The Alcazar has a multi-layered history, which is nicely explained by the free audio guide. There’s a lot to see from different periods, and the views from the towers are magnificent.Full review by FactotumDellaCitta

A must-see when in Jerez. You get a similar experience to touring the fortresses in the larger Andalucian cities but for a fraction of the time and money investment. It's only like 5 euros to enter, …Full review by Jackulas

For €7 it's a great way to spend 1-1.5 hour(s) and learn something. Admittedly it's not as grand as Alcazars in Seville or Cordoba, but less walking too! If nothing else, it's worth it to see the oli…Full review by UK-Colorado
Having been to Seville and Granada and knowing how imperative it is to book tickets to popular places in advance, I cant seem to find a website to book entrance tickets to the Alcazar in Jerez. Is this possible or do you just turn up and pay? I have seen the walking tours that visit the Alcazar and Cathedral, but we just want go independently. Thanks

You can just turn up and pay. If I remember a Monday afternoon is free for the last hour. Hope this helps.
Do you have to buy tickets to access the alcazar in advance? I read it’s open to public, so can we show up the day off with no ticket? Is there a sort of “welcome office”?

Hi, the Alcazar is a delightful place to wander for an hour or so. We simply turned up for its opening at 9.30 sharp, paid seven euros for a ticket at the pleasant reception and for about quarter of an hour we were the only ones there. By the time we left at around 10.45 the place was very full and the atmosphere of calm had completely gone. It is popular with coach day trippers who arrive about 10.00 and who fan out through the grounds getting in the way of your photos! Do the outside buildings and gardens first before exploring the fascinating apothecary upstairs in the main building and the camera obscura is well worth the extra two euros. My advice would be to grab a coffee in your hotel bedroom, head for the Alcazar and then sit in the sun at one of the many great cafe bars and have a leisurely breakfast. Also don’t miss a trip to the horses in the equestrian school. A basic cost ticket for the show is adequate as every seat has a great view of the amazing horsemanship. Enjoy your trip!
Hello, I am looking to travel to Spain in December with my 3 boys. They want to see Gibraltar and ferry to Tangiers. We are only there 6 days. We are getting a care in Seville on the 23 or 24th depending on if we stay there overnight in Seville. If you had my limited time where go and where would you stay. Thank you Greg

Hotels, well I highly recommend the Zenit in Sevilla, the Tryp in Jerez is nice and central, both have car parks, important in Spanish cities.
